History
The Himalayan Salt Shop was founded by Ernest Gaglione in 2006. While at a trade show at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City perusing for products to sell on the web, Ernest came across a booth of glowing orange-reddish stones. Initially attracted by their alluring appearance, Ernest inquired about the lamps and found out that they were actually crystals of Himalayan salt mined from the mountains of the same name. Ernest was also informed that these lamps had a health benefit - they helped to ionize the air in the home. The fact that the salt lamps were all-natural, green, and healthy sealed the deal. Demographics
Typical purchasers of Himalayan Salt Crystal Lamps are women between the ages of 25 and 75. People interested in natural, holistic, and alternative products and medicines are also big fans of these products. West coast buyers were first to come aboard, but as the word spreads, we have seen buyers increase all across the country. These lamps have been popular in Europe and Asia for quite some time, but are now becoming prevalent in the United States. Statistics show that this industry continues to grow tremendously and is only in its early stages. As the baby-boomer generation continues to age it will look for healthier ways to live in order to maintain good health throughout its golden years. The younger generations (especially generation Y and beyond) have been imbued with the idea of green living at a very early age. This shows that the reception for products such as Himalayan salt lamps has a great chance of continuing to improve. The fact that salt lamps fit this natural category and are very aesthetically pleasing makes for a great combination for growth well into the future.

The Himalayan Salt Shop was founded in 2006. Gross Revenue has steadily increased each year since. Our latest numbers indicate that revenue from 2007 to 2008 increased 15% and revenue from 2008 to 2009 is on pace to increase at least 25%. The reason for the increase in the past year is due to the addition of a wholesale division where the Himalayan Salt Shop now sells to stores as well as individuals. We have also begun an affiliate program where website owners can promote our products on their sites, blogs, or social media networks and earn a commission. Another major source of income for our company is our newsletters. We typically correspond with our customers once a month presenting sales and new offers. Our current list of email contacts is comprised of about 5,000 individuals. We also have a network of over 500 stores that we sell to with whom we also correspond via monthly newsletter including not only the latest deals, but also articles and information to help them improve their business and increase their sales of Himalayan Salt Shop products. We have recently started a third newsletter list for our affiliates to help them sell our products via the trackable links we provide them. We even have a page of "affiliate tools" that includes banners and html code to optimize our affiliates' websites to help them sell more of our products. We also have been promoting via PPC advertising on all three major search engines since 2006. We are currently in the process of a major marketing blitz campaign via various channels that we anticipate will further increase our revenue.
